Melania Trump Valentino Dress Bastille Day 2017

Melania worked with her stylist Hervé Pierre on her entire Paris wardrobe. She touched down in a Dior skirt suit that paid homage to the iconic French fashion house and ate at the Eiffel Tower in a custom Hervé Pierre design meant to visually unite America and France. The last item on the first couple’s agenda was to attend the Bastille Day parade before boarding Air Force One to head home.

For the occasion, Melania slipped into a Resort 2017 Valentino jacquard midi covered in flowers. Pierre told WWD that the bouquet print was meant to represent the carnations that people carried on the Champs-Élysées when they celebrated the liberation of Paris after WWII in May 1945. The design is subtly patriotic, and Melania’s dark visor top sunglasses, light indigo suede pumps, and her trusty belt trick all fit in with what has become the FLOTUS’s signature look.
